May 2007
On Tuesday 29th May 2007 a meeting was attended by 10 people and two of the Totnes crew. A few major issues arose. Much focused on having a greater awareness of the underlying issues of Peak Oil amongst the general population.
An open air party, some obvious permanent City Centre focal point and lobbying of Council and other major buisnesses seems a good way to go. Once more people are involved, a 'core group' could help define areas or projects of practical application, like how would Plymouth generate it's electricity, grow it's food, get all the kids to school in a safe and comfortable way without recourse to parents having to drive them the few miles they so often feel they have to.
Those attending will keep in touch by email via the PEC and there is the option of furthering discussions via a bulletin board. Otherwise important and general info will be placed here, apended to this page.
Things to consider.
- Please read up on existing Transition Towns and Cities so you will know a bit about the topic.
- Analyse what you read, it won't all be relevant to Plymouth.
- Try and come up with your own ideas, these will be preferable.
- Watch out for experts leading you astray and don't try to change anyone's mind but challenge anything you are uncomfortable with.
- Your unique mind is the source.

- There is a presentation (10Mb) from Naresh, Totnes Transition Town, available if anyone would like an idea of his views.
