About us
Plymouth Environment Centre is being developed by a new
voluntary group, formally constituted in December
2004,
Company No. 5747622
Charity No. 1115381
our charitable objects are:
To advance the education of the public in Plymouth and
its surrounding area in all aspects of ecologically sustainable
lifestyles and development in accordance with vegan principles: - by
the provision and distribution of information about organisations,
campaigns, scheme and projects that exist to protect the environment
and improve quality of life for humans and animals; and
- by the encouragement of greater consideration towards the environment, humans and animals for the benefit of the public
In this context Vegan means :-
".
. ways of living that seek to exclude, as far as is possible and
practical, all forms of exploitation of animals for food, clothing or
any other purpose. . . Ultimately, the use of animal products (such as
meat, dairy, eggs, leather and wool) will be viewed as an inhumane and
unsustainable practice from a much less enlightened age."

We
are working towards having an information resource that
will
cover local, national and international issues concerning the
environment, human rights and animal rights.
Our library currently has over 120 books on various subjects.
We also have magazines and leaflets from many national
organisations.
The centre will also have a proposed green shop and an ethical
café.
